Carol has been involved with horses for over 30 years, beginning her riding career as a barrel racer, progressing through hunters in high school and finally settling into dressage in college. Her experiences working in various types of equine fields has provided a wealth of knowledge in general horsemanship and care, from handling young horses to farriery.
She has trained with Todd Flettrich and Linda Zang, but has the most reverence for her friend and mentor Nico van Stigt, a Dutchman of the old school, well versed in classical principles and explicit in his adherence to the philosophy that the horse’s best interests must always be forefront in the training process.
Currently training with JJ Tate and competing at PSG, Carol continues to further her education by participating in or auditing clinics and programming from long-lining to the USDF “L” Program to Instructor Certification Workshops.
It is my goal to become the most effective rider I can be and to assist others in becoming the same. I know how hard the struggle is to learn body awareness and control and how ultimately important it is to do justice to our magnificent horses.
